KSRTC to strengthen its services in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi

Udupi: New plans have been put forward by the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) to boost public transport system in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi.

Addressing the press conference on 7th August, Monday, KSRTC managing director S R Umashankar said that they are planning to operate buses on at least 145 new routes. 7 new permits have been issued. However, the finalization of timings and permission is over due. At least 124 additional permits have been sought.

He further added saying, “The DK DC who is also the chairman of Regional Transport Authority (RTA), has been requested to give permission to new routes. The state-owned transport corporation faces stiff competition in DK and Udupi districts and it is making efforts to attract the passengers with affordable fares”.

MLAs J R Lobo and B A Mohiddin Bava, KSRTC Mangaluru Divisional Controller M Deepak Kumar, Divisional Traffic Officer M B Jaishanth Kumar, Directors T K Sudhir and Ramesh Shetty were present at the press meet.

Mangaluru-Bhatkal Volvo services

The corporation chairman and Byndoor MLA K. Gopal Poojary said that following the success of the Mangaluru (State Bank)-Bhatkal Volvo services, KSRTC would seek permits to operate similar services between Mangaluru and Kumta.
