Kumta: Man behind burglary of jewelry shops arrested

Kumta: The Kumta police have arrested a man near Kumta railway station on 8th June, Thursday, regarding the robbery of jewelry shops and recovered gold ornaments and silver articles which were in his possession.

The accused is identified as Tithiya Durga Mogya (30), a resident of Madhya Pradesh. The police raided his place and nabbed him along with gold and silver found at his place.

The police have also suspected​ another person involved in the case named Avinash and the search is on. It is said that both of them used to break into the houses and jewelry shops at night while selling balloons during daytime.

According to sources, three jewelry shops along with few houses were burgled in a town around couple of days back . The frustrated town residents held a protest pressurizing the police to catch the culprits and accused them for being unable to follow the trace to the thieves. The Kumta police took it as a challenge and teaming up with Bengaluru police, they gathered intel on thieves and finally nabbed one of them on Thursday.

The Kumta CPI said that they will be able to apprehend Avinash soon and they are investigating further on the case.
