Kumta: A woman who was injured in an accident on Kumta Mirjan NH on Friday, October 7th passed away in a hospital in Udupi, raising the death toll to three.
It should be noted that the accident occurred on Friday at around 6:30 am in morning when their speedy car rammed into a bridge after losing the control causing death of two people and letting six sustain grievous injuries. Abdul Kareem s/o Salahuddin Shaikh (6) and his uncle Abdul Maajid Khan (42), both residents of Saralgi village of Honnavar had died in the accident.
The six people who were injured in the accident were admitted to various hospitals in Mangaluru, Udupi and Honnaver. It is said that a woman who was admitted at Adarsh Hoapital in Udupi succumbed to injuries today morning. The deceased is identified as Jamila Bi (35), wife of Abdul Maajid Khan, who has passed away earlier. It is said that the two kids of the deceased couple, one-and-half-year-old baby Abdul Kareem and Abdul Jawwad Khan (10) were also among injured, but were discharged from the hospital later.
According to the sources, three more people who were injured in the accident were still admitted in the hospitals. Masiah Salahuddin Shaikh(15) is in the intensive care unit, whereas his mother Nazeera Bi Salahhuddin is in Mangaluru Hospital. Similarly, Fathima Nada Musheer Khan, the resident of Bhatkal Magdoom colony is getting treated at a hospital in Kundapur.
About the deceased woman Jamila Bi, it is said that she hailed from Valki. The body was taken to her husband’s home in Saralgi after post mortem.
