Kumta: After upgrading ‘Sante market’ (weekly bazaar) of Kumta under central government’s NABARD scheme, located here at APMC campus in the town, a new look has been developed facilitating vendors to market eatables under the shed, which has brought a big relief to them against the hot sun. This has become an ideal market in the district.

Noticing the ill fated condition of sante market, APMC president Ramadas Shridhar Shanbag, earlier, had written to the government seeking for the development works, following the fund was released for the work. The fund of one crore rupees was released under central government's NABARD scheme to carry with upgrading work for Sante market.

Earlier, the vendors had to tie temporary sheds to make business which was one of the toughest job for them. During monsoon, they had to face severe loss after some of the vegetables got washed away in rain.

“Kumta being the central place in the district, many farmers, not only from Ankola, Gokarna or Bhatkal, but also from Hubballi and Belgaum visit here to sell vegetables that they have grown in their farm. This new look will facilitate them to work easily without getting affected to hot sun" said APMC secretary M.C Padaganur.
