Kundapur: In a strange accident which took place at Mavinkatte near Kandloor, a woman was burnt to death when the refrigerator of her house blasted due to short circuit.

According to the information, the incident took place at around 7.30 pm on Monday. The deceased has been identified as NoorJahan, aged about 40 years.

It is said that NoorJahan was opening the door of her fridge, when suddenly the fridge went apart with a big blast. The intensity of blast was such that the entire room got engulfed in fire. Sadly, Noorjahan was the part of it.

It is said that NoorJahan was alone at home when the incident took place. Her mother Fatimabi along with her grandson and NoorJahan’s ten year old son Muhhamed Zubair had gone out for some work. Also, NoorJahan’s brother Anwar who is an auto driver at Kundapur bus stop was out on his duty when the blast occurred.

It was told that the fridge was kept in a room which is located in the middle of the house. The compressor of the fridge blasted as a result of short circuit in the house. There is a notion that NoorJAhan was opening the door of the fridge at that tragic moment which made her burn alive. The other three residents of house had a lucky escape as they were absent at the time of blast.

Other parts of the house are also reported to have undergone severe damage due to the fire.

The fire brigade personnel reached the spot and fire was brought under control.

A case has been registered with Kundapur police and the investigations are on.
