Kundapur: A theft occurred at the Dharmastala Rural Development Project (DRDP) office on 20th September, Wednesday, when miscreants barged into the office, assaulted the cashier and escaped with around Rs. 2.3 lakhs.
According to the sources, the cashier Preethi (23 yrs), was alone at the office when the miscreants arrived there wearing helmets at around 10:00 am in the morning and assaulted her with a wooden stick. He then fled away along with the a sum of Rs. 2.3 lakh which was collected by the members and kept in the cash box.
Following the incident, a person arrived at the office and found Preethi lying in a semi-conscious state on the floor.
Miscreants assaulted the cashier of on Wednesday morning, September 20, and robbed nearly from her. He immediately raised an alarm and local shopkeepers arrived at the spot.
She was then admitted into a government hospital with the help of some women from neighborhood. After initial treatment there, she was then shifted to Manipal hospital for further treatment.
A case was registered at Amasebail police station and Amasebail circle inspector Manjappa, forensic experts and dog squad visited the spot and held investigation.
