Kundapur: A leopard which was stuck in a government well for three days was rescued alive in Kavrady near Kandloor .
It is said that the leopard had accidently fallen into the public well dug by the government at night of 5th November, Saturday and failed to climb up due to the intense depth of well.
Local people who brought cattle for grazing had heard noises from the well and found out about the mishap. The grama panchayat and forest officials were then informed.
The efforts of forest officials to bring it up by lowering branches of a tree into the well did not succeed. Later fire brigade staff arrived and a well-known diving expert Manjunath Naik was called. Forest officials lowered a cage into the well. With much effort, finally the grieving leopard was successfully brought up alive from the well on Tuesday, November 8th.
The Forest officers have informed that the leopard will be left into a wild life sanctuary.
