Haliyal: Congress leader and MLC SL Ghotnekar accused BJP leader Sunil Hegde of trying to cause confusion among farmers of Haliyal taluk on Kali rift irrigation project, for which a tender of Rs 203 crore has already been floated.

The tender is a legal matter published by the state government and there should be no suspicion about it, Ghotnekar said, adding that it is a matter of pity that Hegde should have questioned about its veracity.

“The project is bound to materialize in 2-3 years. If it doesn’t happen, I will resign as MLC and if it becomes a reality, Hegde should quit politics,” he said. “Let the (Hegde) give up his habit of lying,” Ghotnekar added.
