Sirsi: Leader of Opposition in Legislative Council KS Eshwarappa has blamed the Congress party for the ongoing Mahadayi issue.
Speaking to media persons after taking part in a programme in Sirsi on Tuesday, Eshwarappa blamed the UPA government for the injustice to the Karnataka. "It was because of the foolishness of the Congress government, the tribunal was formed. Now, though there are chances for Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to solve the issue, fearing AICC President Sonia Gandhi, Siddaramaiah is not writing a letter to the prime minster," he said.
As Sonia Gandhi during the previous rule had announced that not even a single drop of water from Goa will be flown into Karnataka, Siddaramaiah is not ready to brave the high command. Hence, this issue is becoming complex, he chided.
Even now, Siddaramaiah can write a letter to the Goa and Maharashtra Chief Ministers inviting them to hold a meeting, he said.
"If the Congress party had any concern towards the farmers, it would not have allowed the lathi charge Mahadayi protestors in Yamanur and Algwadi. When the police were mercilessly assaulting the people without discriminating gender and age, the Congress government remained a mute spectator and now is shedding crocodile tears," he said.
"The brutality of the police reminds of the colonial rule," he added.
