Bhatkal: A 45-Year old man committed suicide by hanging himself to a roof of the house, located at Sagar road here in Bhatkal. The incident happened in the evening of 21st July, Friday.

The deceased was identified as Dada Peerabban Qasim Saheb (45), a native of Lakhmeshwar in Haveri district.

Sources state that Dada Peer’s mental condition was not well since a month. His wife had left the house to depart their daughter to Hubli at Bhatkal bus station around 5:30 pm on Friday. It is said that Dada refused to come to the bus station.

His wife told the police that when she returned home after departing her daughter, the door was locked from inside. When there was no response from the house even after calling him for a while, she decided to peek through the window. But what she saw was a great shock to her.

She found her husband Peer hanging to the ceiling, dead. As soon as the news spread, neighbours and others  gathered around their house. Soon the Bhatkal rural police too arrived at the spot.

The body was then sent to Bhatkal Government hospital for post-mortem.

A case has been registered at Bhatkal rural police station.
