Manjeshwar: In an unfortunate incident, a young man lost his life by falling into a lake while chasing his cow which began running all of a sudden.

The incident took place at Sonkal village near Uppala in Kasargod district. The deceased victim is identified as 32-year-old Ameer Sadiq. His family is said to be into cattle rearing at Sonkal village.

Sources said that the man had tied three of his cows in his yard. While taking them into the shed in the evening, one of them suddenly began running. In a bid to take hold of her he ran behind her and lost his balance which made him slip into the lake.

He was taken to a hospital in Uppala after locals and fire fighters lifted him from the water, but he was pronounced dead by the doctors.

A case has been registered at Manjeshwar police station.
