Mangaluru: Minister for food, civil supplies and consumer affairs U T Khader has taken a dig at the BJP party and Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the latter's visit to Pakistan.
When asked about former MP and actress Ramya who was accused of sedition over her comments praising Pakistan, he said that those were her personal opinion. "Let those who speak against Ramya introspect their views. Let them clarify their stand on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's surprise visit to Pakistan. Modi had gone to Pakistan without prior discussion and he attended a private function too."
"Uttar Pradesh minister has made an allegation that underworld don Dawood Ibrahim has attended the same function in Lahore. Those who criticize neither did question Modi, nor the minister," Khader said.
Recalling BJP senior leader L K Advani's visit to Pakistan, he said "Advani not only visited Karachi, but also praised Mohammed Ali Jinnah, founder of Pakistan and the one held responsible for the division of two countries. Minister of external affairs Sushma Swaraj too has visited Pakistan. However, no cases have been filed in this connection. Those undertaking Tiranga Yatra nowadays won't speak about the killer of Mahatma Gandhi who fought for our independence. Those ppl who had claimed that the Tiranga flag is incorrect are now holding the same flags and shouting slogans about patriotism," he said.
He further said: "India is a democratic country. Everyone living together with peace, harmony and brotherhood is real patriotism. Patriotism is not anyone's property."
Regarding Amnesty controversy, he said that the police are investigating the matter and every answers will be obtained and a real Indian will never tolerate any slogans towards his country.
He said, by provocating the youths in the name of patriotism, murder of innocents like Praveen Poojary and Harish Raju Moger takes place.
