Mangaluru: An incident of attacking a family with petrol bomb took place, at Bastipadpi within Ullal police station limits on the night of Friday, October 28.

The person who is injured in the accident is identified as Tharanath Yadav Panjikodi (58) who has been admitted to the hospital in Thokkottu. He has secured burns on his left hand. His wife Vidya (45) and son Mithun (10) are said to be safe, due to the timely action of Tharanath. It was told that the miscreants threw petrol bombs through the ventilator of the house around midnight.

Role of mafia involved in selling ganja is suspected in the incident as Tharanath is well known in the area for his social work and also for his anti-ganja mafia stance.

Tharanath is also a personal friend of food supplies minister U T Khader. Khader, upon hearing the news, rushed to the hospital to meet Tharanath. Khader later said that he has asked the police to take action against the miscreants at the soonest.

Ullal police have registered a case.
