Mangaluru: Regarding the act of police personnel tearing Madrasa books and throwing the Holy Quran during the search of an accused on 2nd September, Saturday, the United Muslim Organisation said that the incident had 'hurt the religious sentiments of the Muslim community'.
"Police are biased in handling the investigation. In Ashraf Kalayi murder case, the conspirator was neither arrested nor was his house raided by the police. But in Sharath murder case, the police, despite already arresting the culprits have raided their residence. Even the conspirators of Kalladka stone pelting incident are roaming free”, said the president of the organization and former mayor K Ashraf.
Ashraf was addressing media persons here on 4th September, Monday. He said that this act has hurt the entire Muslim community. Although we are not defending the accused, we condemn the act of disrespecting the Quran and tearing Madrasa books.
He further demanded the suspension of three police personnel namely Bantwal SI Rakshith Gowda, Uppinangady SI Nandakumar and Puttur CI Mahesh Prasad in this regard. He also said that the organization is planning to hold a massive protest on 8th September condemning this shameful incident.
However, if the police show the video of the raid in the presence of our members, family members and also local political leaders and if we are convinced that the allegations are false, they are ready to withdraw the protest and apologize."
Members of the organization Hameed Kudroli, Abdul Jaleel, Ashraf Kinara, Ismail Shafi and others were present.
