Mangaluru: A raid was conducted by the Panambur police on the P K S Health Cure medical shop near the Sharada Vidyalaya in the city on 27th September, Wednesday, where tablets and syrups worth Rs 30,000 were seized.
According to sources, the raid was conducted based upon the intel gathered by them via Muhammed Azhar (23 yrs), whom they had arrested on 25th September, Monday.
They had found him consuming ganja near Tannirbavi and after searching him, they found that he had Nitravet-10 tablets and Tossex syrup in his pocket, which can only be sold against prescriptions.
During interrogation, Azhar told the police that he acquired the medicines at a medical shop, where they were being sold without prescriptions at higher prices. Following this, a police constable from Panambur station was sent with civil dressed as common man at the shop and when the shopkeepers were about to deliver the medicines, the police raided the shop.
The police seized around 20 strips of Nitravet-10 tablets, and about 30 bottles of Tossex and Chloropheniramine manlet syrups from the shop.
The case was then transferred to the assistant drugs controller in the city for further action.
