Karwar: Kumta MLA Sharada Mohan Shetty on Friday assumed charges as the chairperson of the Coastal Development Authority (CDA) in Mangaluru.
The state government had recently issued a notification in this regard.
After assuming the office, Sharada said as Uttara Kannada, Dakshina Kannada and Udupi fall in the jurisdiction of the CDA, she would strive to address the problems being faced by the coastal areas. As per the requirement, a plan would be chalked for the inclusive development of these three districts and executed on priority.
“I will try to get more funds released to the CDA, which will help us take development works in this part. Construction of bridges, roads, fish market, drainage, skywalk, garden and anganwadi buildings and distribution of drinking water will be my priority,” she said.
There is a need for more hanging bridges in many villages for the convenience of students to reach their schools and colleges. “Connectivity will be given top priority. As an MLA, I have initiated many development works in my constituency and the CDA chairperson post is an opportunity to work further for the betterment of the coastal districts.
Sharada’s supporters burst crackers, took out a rally and distributed sweets in the town.
