Mangaluru: Four persons were arrested by the police here at an apartment used for prostitution in Yeyadi on 18th September, Monday and young women were rescued. Another accused managed to escape and is absconding.
The arrested accused have been identified as the owner of the apartment Usha Naik, Sunitha from Jeppu, Shakira from Attavar and Maroli Seetharam.
According to sources, the racket was run at Usha’s apartment by Shakira and Sunitha, while Harish and Seetharam were the agents who brought clients to them.
Based upon a tip-off from a credible source, the Kadri police inspector Maruti Naik with PSI Harish, ASI Janardhana, police constables Prashanth Shetty, Ashith Kiran, staff Jyothi and Ajith Mathew raided the apartment.
Four of the accused were nabbed while Harish managed to escape. Search is on for him.
A case has been registered at Kadri police station.
