Mangaluru: ‘Society must not get divided due to hatred’

Mangaluru: “Mangaluru city holds a unique place in India, and has ample opportunities in every field. We should never lose that tag. Nobody should allow society to divide due to hatred,’’’ said chancellor of Nitte (deemed to be university) N Vinaya Hegde.

He was addressing the gathering during an iftar get-together that was organised at Yenepoya School grounds in Jeppinamogaru, on Saturday. Most Rev Peter Paul Saldanha, Bishop, diocese of Mangalore and Yenepoya (deemed to be university) chancellor Yenepoya Abdulla Kunhi were present on the occasion.

“One must live as a good human being, no matter what achievements one has in their life. There is a need to maintain solidarity in society, and it can be achieved when we are humane,” stressed Vinaya Hegde. Bishop Peter Paul explained the importance of fasting in Christianity. Abdulla Kunhi spoke on fasting during Ramzan, the Quran and the life of Prophet Muhammad.
