Mangaluru: Officials of the Mangaluru City Corporation while raiding shops sealed 28 shops for doing business without licence in the city market complex building at the Central Market area here on Saturday.

Many shopkeepers who did not own a licence closed down the shops on seeing the officials. But the officials made them open the shops and sealed them when they did not find any licence .

A corporation official said that the shops would be allowed to re-open only after obtaining licence by following due procedure. Till then, the random checking of shops would continue.

Kavita Sanil, chairperson, Standing Committee for Public Health, Education and Social Health, accompanied the officials.
