Mangaluru: A new probe was ordered by Mangaluru city police commissioner, TR Suresh regarding the suicide case of Alva’s Educational Institutions 10th standard student, Kavyashri after parents of the deceased expressed suspicion over her death and alleged it as a planned murder.
The deceased Kavyashri (16 yrs), a native of Mangaluru and daughter of Lokesh, a resident of Yekkaru Devagudde located near Kateel in Mangaluru. She was a state level Badminton player.
Lokesh said that his daughter was a state-level champion and bold. She could never have taken such a step to end her life. He also said that the last time she called on 19th July, she sounded well and told that she has to go for practice next morning. This is not suicide, there must be something else behind Kavya’s death
Demanding a detailed inquiry on the case, he further submitted a written complaint to the Police Commissioner on 24th July, Monday.
According to the school authorities, Kavya’s body was found hanging in her hostel room. Her body was then shifted to Mortuary after informing her parents. But lokesh said that the authorities did not even allow the parents to see the body properly. It was handed over to them only on 21st July and not before.
According to the primary investigation, it was assumed that the girl was forced to take this extreme step after she turned depressed following low marks secured in her last examinations. Moodbidri police have been investigating the suicide case and no significant information gathered yet.
A case was registered in Moodbidri police station.
