Karwar: Deputy Commissioner Mullai Mugilan directed the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) planning director to complete the flyover and four-lane road construction works connecting National Highway-66 in Karwar at the earliest.
The director has to submit a weekly report about the progress of the work to the deputy commissioner’s office, Mugilan asked.
He noted this while speaking after chairing the NHAI works progress review meeting held at his office in the City on Thursday.
He said, all the ongoing works should be completed in the scheduled period of time to facilitate the smooth movement of vehicles. At present, travellers are facing inconvenience due to frequent changes of the routes, in the wake of ongoing works. This has also increased road mishaps. Hence, the NHAI should take measures to install signboards on the roads.
The shifting works of the mini bridge and water pipeline at Amadalli village in Karwar taluk are pending. Officials concerned should ensure its completion before May end, he directed.
NHAI manager informed the meeting that compensation disbursal to the landowners whose lands have been acquired for developmental works in Amadalli was suspended for a certain period of time. Many landowners were not present at their lands, by the time of resuming the compensation distribution works. Hence, notices have been issued to them.
The deputy commissioner asked the NHAI to initiate measures to acquire the lands before March 20 and submit the Action Taken Report.
Superintendent of Police Suman Pennekar and Additional Deputy Commissioner S Badarinath were present.
