Bhatkal: Following the suicide at Sagar road at 5:30 pm on Friday, another suicide was reported on same day at 10:00 pm in Belke village, Bhatkal.

The deceased was identified as Veena Shivaram Naik (29), a recently married women. Her body was found floating inside a well of her parent’s house and was then recovered from the well with the help of Fire Brigade team of Bhatkal.

Sources stated that Veena was married to a young man from Chitrapur, Shirali during February this year. But lately, she was not happy with her husband. Veena was staying at her mother’s house from fifteen days. After 9:00 pm on Friday, she suddenly went to the compound and jumped into the well and ended her life.

Due to heavy rain in Bhatkal since last few days, the well was fully filled with water. With the assistance of Fire Brigade, the body was recovered at 10:00 pm in the night. As the news spread, Bhatkal tahsildar V N Bhadkar arrived at the spot along with police and after investigation, ordered to transfer the body to the Bhatkal Government hospital.

According to the sources, Veena worked in a private hospital in Bhatkal.

A case is registered at Bhatkal rural police station and further investigations are in progress.
