Mangaluru: The sleuths of Mangaluru South Police Station has arrested a 36-year-old Nigerian national for possession of cocaine, near Kaprigudda in Mangaluru.
The accused has been identified as Emeka Clinton Obinna and 4.5 kg of cocaine worth Rs 2 lakh, Rs 39,000 in cash and a mobile phone was also confiscated from him during the raid.
The accused had come to India on a business visa but stayed back even after his visa expired. He has also been charged with overstaying and visa violation apart from dealing with drugs.
While interrogation, he revealed that he procured drugs from Goa and sold them in the city to the youths and students from affluent families. Although numerous arrests were made in the city for possession of marijuana and hashish, police said this is the first cocaine-related arrest in the city.
A case has been registered at Mangaluru South police station and investigations are on.
