Karwar: Every year, the mid-term holidays for the schools in the state were given during the days of state's Dasara festival. But, this year the department of education has scheduled the mid-term holidays for schools from 11th October to 25th October, which falls right after the Dasara. The parents and public are objecting to this move as an incorrect schedule.

This year, the grand Dasara festival celebrations in Mysore will be commencing from 21st September to 30th September, while the holidays for the schools which will be given in the month of October is mentioned as the Dasara holidays. But until then the festival gets finished. If only the educational institutions of Mysore district gets holidays during Dasara in September, then the people of the entire state other than Mysore will be deprived of the state's festival.

Responding to this, the officials of the education department has cleared the matter saying that the holidays are given to the schools after the mid-term exams. Every year the dates of festival vary. So, it is not a mandatory that the educational calendar should be as per the festivals.
