A pedestrian was killed near Haliyal cross in Yellapur NH 63 on Sunday late night who was identified as Raju Channappa Marathi (35), a resident of Kannadagal. 

Police said that Raju was struck by at least one unknown vehicle when he was crossing the highway. The vehicle involved in the crash did not stop, police added.

It is said that Raju was walking towards his residence in the late night on Sunday, when a vehicle hit him and fled the scene. Raju was declared dead on the spot.

A case has been registered in Yellapur police station and the fatal crash remains under investigation.
