Bhatkal: In a road accident involving collision between Auto rickshaw and a scooty, pillion rider was killed, while rider sustained serious injuries after which they were taken to Manipal hospital. The incident happened in Bailgadde 1st cross in Heble Panchayat limits in the taluk on Tuesday night at around 8:30 PM.

The deceased is identified as Ganesh Jatta Naik, 23, a resident of Mundalli in Bhatkal, while the injured is identified as Dinesh Shaniyar Naik,25, a resident of Tengingundi in the taluk. 

Police informed that the incident happened when the scooter was coming from Tengangundi to Bhatkal while the auto rickshaw was in the opposite direction. Both the youths were seriously injured in the accident and were taken to Manipal, but Ganesh succumbed to injuries this Wednesday morning. 

A case has been registered at Bhatkal rural Police Station in this regard and further investigation is underway.
