Bhatkal: Police have registered seven cases as part of action against O-C Matka activities and the illegal sale of liquor in Bhatkal taluk. Bhatkal Sub-Division ASP Ranu Gupta IPS said strict action against illegal activities would continue.
Police said two cases were registered after raids on two shops allegedly selling liquor illegally within the jurisdiction of Murdeshwar police station in Bhatkal taluk. Liquor worth Rs 18,200 was seized in one case, while liquor worth Rs 14,145 was seized in the other.
Similarly, police registered five cases against O-C Matka activities within the jurisdiction of Bhatkal Town and Bhatkal Rural police stations. During the operation, liquor and beer bottles and cans of various brands were also seized.
Police said operations against the illegal sale of liquor and O-C Matka activities linked to gambling would continue in the taluk. ASP Ranu Gupta appealed to the public to inform the police if they come across activities such as O-C Matka or illegal liquor sales. Police assured that the identity of those providing information would be kept confidential.
