Bhatkal: A disturbing incident of trespassing and assault occurred at the Post Matric Minority Hostel near Government Hospital in Bhatkal around 11 o'clock on Sunday night. Hostel warden Nagendra S. filed a police complaint against three individuals - Raghavendra alias Babu Rama Naik from Hurulisal, Nandana Jain from Talagod, and an unidentified person at the Bhatkal town police station.
Sources reveal that at approximately 11 o'clock on the night of December 31, three hostel students went to a medical shop to purchase medicine. During this outing, the accused attacked the students. Frightened, the students fled to the hostel, with the attackers in pursuit. Once inside the hostel premises, the accused assaulted a student with a cricket bat, causing head injuries. Additionally, they caused damage to a door, a flower pot, and a chair. The entire incident was captured on the hostel's CCTV cameras.
Nagendra, the hostel warden, informed the media that a group of inebriated individuals armed with sticks and a cricket stump forcibly entered the hostel at night. They proceeded to destroy the door and plastic chairs in the hostel room, severely assaulting and injuring students with a stick.
In response to the incident, the police promptly arrived at the scene upon receiving the information, managing to control the situation. A case of assault on the students has been registered at the Bhatkal town police station, with PSI Shivanand assigned to investigate the case.
