Karwar: In the Uttara Kannada constituency, BJP candidate Vishweshwar Hegde Kageri and three others, filed nomination papers as the process began in Karwar for the Lok Sabha seat.
Prior to submitting his papers, Kageri led an impressive roadshow in Karwar, starting with a ceremonial Gow puja and featuring a convoy of open vehicles flanked by hundreds of BJP supporters.
Addressing the gathered crowd, Kageri criticized the Congress for allegedly exploiting religious sentiments for political gain.
Key BJP campaigners, including Vijaypur MLA Basangouda Patil Yatnal and Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, emphasized the importance of electing BJP for national security and societal empowerment.
Karkala MLA V Sunilkumar expressed confidence in a third consecutive term for the BJP government under Modi's leadership. Various MLAs and leaders from both BJP and JD(S) were present. Alongside Kageri, nominations were filed by Ganapathi Hegde (SUCI(C)), Vinayak Mangesh Naik (KRS party), and Krishna Baligar (independent), totaling seven sets of papers on the opening day.
