Udupi: The Second Additional District and Sessions Court in Udupi rejected Praveen Arun Chowgule's bail plea on Saturday in connection with the Nejar quadruple murder case.
Chowgule had sought bail for the second time on March 13, citing poor health. Special public prosecutor Shivprasad Alva opposed the application on March 27. Rajesh, representing the accused, and the special public prosecutor presented their arguments in court.
After considering the arguments, Judge Dinesh Hegde scheduled the final decision on the bail plea for March 30. In his ruling, he noted that the FSL report confirmed Chowgule's presence at the crime scene and the presence of Haseena's blood (one of the victims) on his clothing.
Concerns were raised that granting bail could lead to witness intimidation. Consequently, the judge dismissed the bail application, emphasizing that Chowgule could receive necessary medical care while in custody.
