Mangaluru: The Indian Coast Guard rescued a fisherman named Vasanth from a boat that was in distress 36 nautical miles off the Mangaluru coast on Tuesday.
The Coast Guard received information at about 3:20 p.m. that Vasanth was experiencing severe chest pain and shortness of breath. He was suspected to be suffering from an acute myocardial infarction.
The Coast Guard immediately diverted an interceptor boat, C 446, to the scene. After providing basic first aid, the Coast Guard personnel shifted Vasanth to their boat and brought him to the city.
Vasanth was later admitted to the SCS Hospital for treatment.
