Sirsi: Congress party members took to the streets in Sirsi on Tuesday to voice their displeasure against MP Ananthkumar Hegde for his disparaging remarks about Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and the Congress.
At the Old Bus Stand Circle, Congress supporters gathered, chanting slogans denouncing MP Hegde.
Jagadish Gowda, President of the Sirsi Block Congress unit, criticized Hegde for resorting to unethical statements and political tactics against the chief minister and the party merely to garner votes in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Gowda added, "MP Hegde is attempting to sow communal discord among people for political advantage during elections. The condemnation for his remarks extends not only from Congress workers but also from the voters in the constituency. It reflects the sentiments of the voters towards the MP."
Issuing a warning, Basavaraj Dodmani, a Congress District unit office-bearer, expressed disapproval of an MP using unparliamentary language. He called Hegde's behavior deplorable and cautioned that if the MP does not rectify his conduct, the Congress will initiate a strong movement against him.
