Mangaluru: In Dakshina Kannada district, the electoral list reports 1,785,835 voters, with women outnumbering men by around 40,000, according to Dr. Mamatha, the electoral list observer. The draft list shows 873,389 male voters, 912,369 female voters, and 77 third-gender voters.
A special revision revealed 27,740 new enrolments, 15,961 correction applications, and 24,870 deletions. The district has 22,511 young voters (18 to 19 years) and a gender ratio of 1048. Additionally, there are 13,755 differently-abled individuals and 233 Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) in the list.
Post-meeting, Dr. Mamatha, also the Inspector General of Registration and Commissioner of Stamps, inspected polling booths in Belthangady and Sullia assembly constituencies. She emphasized the importance of basic amenities at polling booths and urged officials to meticulously review the enrollment of young voters and the removal of deceased individuals' names from the list, reinforcing the electoral process's accuracy and efficiency.
