Karwar: Deputy Commissioner Gangubai Mankar inspected paddy fields in Siddara village in Karwar taluk on Thursday.
The crop has been drying up due to deficit rain.
Mankar visited the farms of several farmers and interacted with them. The farmers told her that the growth of the paddy saplings had stunted due to the unavailability of sufficient water. They feared that the saplings would dry up completely if the situation continued.
Mankar assured that the factual report that will be submitted to the government about the damage to agricultural crops due to lack of rain will present a clear picture of the impact of drought on paddy cultivation.
