Disciplinary action for dereliction of duty, warns DC

Karwar (DHNS): The officials who have been deployed on Assembly election duty, should work honestly for conducting free and fair polls. If anyone is found violating the rules, disciplinary action will be taken against such officials, warned Deputy Commissioner Prabhulinga Kavalikatti who is also the district election officer.

He was speaking at a meeting of officials held for monitoring the preparations being made for the Karwar-Ankola Assembly polls here on Friday.

He told the officials to work efficiently for conducting the polls systematically.

Election Officer Jayalakshmi Rayakoda informed that after the implementation of the Model Code of Conduct, 13 complaints were received regarding the violation of the Model Code of Conduct. They were resolved after verifying. During the last fortnight, money, liquor and goods worth Rs 30.65 lakh have been seized.

She siad, Ambejooga, Boribaga, Kinnara, Hanakona and Hotegali polling stations have been identified as sensitive stations. Attention would be given to avoid any untoward incident there. Mustering Center opened at St. Michael's School. 30 buses have been sought for election work.
