Dubai: Dubai and various parts of the United Arab Emirates experienced heavy rain, thunder, and lightning on Monday, prompting police to issue a public safety warning. Residents were advised to avoid beaches, valleys, torrent flows, and low-lying areas. Motorists were cautioned to drive carefully and follow authorities' instructions.
Loud thunder, lightning flashes, and heavy downpours were reported across the country, following scattered rainfall on Sunday. The National Center of Meteorology issued yellow and orange weather alerts for Ras Al Khaimah, Sharjah, Umm Al Quwain, and parts of Dubai, warning of rough seas, varying rainfall intensities, and strong winds.
In anticipation of the inclement weather, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation urged private sector companies to implement flexible working arrangements on Monday to ensure employees' safety. Companies were instructed to comply with occupational health and safety requirements for outdoor work and ensure workers' safe commuting.
The Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) advised Dubai's private schools, nurseries, and universities to offer remote learning options on Monday due to the unpredictable weather. Residents shared images of the downpours on social media platforms.
