Mangaluru: District-in-Charge Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao has declared that the state government is ready to take resolute measures against disruptive elements aiming to disturb harmony within the district. Strong actions will be implemented against individuals involved in acts of moral policing, he reaffirmed.

Addressing the crowd after hoisting the national flag to commemorate the 77th Independence Day at Nehru Maidan in Mangaluru, Rao highlighted the government's unwavering focus on upholding law and order across the state. The government will adopt a strict stance against purveyors of misinformation and purveyors of hate speech, both of which contribute to the disruption of societal harmony.

Underlining the paramount importance of preserving democratic principles, he stressed the necessity of fostering love, unity, and brotherhood in society, while discarding divisive sentiments. Overcoming differences of opinion is imperative. Rao expressed concern over recent unfortunate incidents, including instances of violence in Manipur and Haryana. He advocated for collective efforts to curtail violence and thwart attempts to sow seeds of animosity.

Rao said, "Chief Minister Siddaramaiah outlined five key promises before the elections, and he has now allocated a sum of Rs 35,410 crore to fulfill them. The 14th budget prioritized all segments of society, ensuring an equitable distribution of funds."

An action plan is in the works to transform Sasihithlu Beach into an international surfing destination through a public-private partnership (PPP). Rao assured that the construction of the District Commissioner's office complex will conclude within a year, streamlining access to all government services under one roof.
The Independence Day celebrations included a series of cultural programs.
