Bhatkal:  A wave of public complants and calls for action have emerged following allegations of negligence against Dr. Janardan Moger, an orthopedic specialist at the Bhatkal taluk government hospital. The incident, which sparked a public meeting on Saturday, has prompted an investigation by the District Health Officer, Dr. Neeraj, and calls for Dr. Moger's transfer or suspension.

The concerns stem from Friday's incident where members of the public witnessed Dr. Mogera's alleged failure to adequately examine and treat injured individuals. Outraged by this perceived neglect, a public meeting was held on Saturday to directly address the issue and demand action.

During the meeting, Dr. Neeraj listened to numerous complaints from the public, specifically focusing on Dr. Mogera's conduct. Social worker Irshad Siddiqua led the charge, demanding the doctor's immediate suspension due to reports of unprofessional behavior, including insults and disregard for patients.

Rohini Naik, whose mother was allegedly neglected by Dr. Mogera, shared her experience of having to seek private treatment due to the doctor's inaction, resulting in significant financial hardship. Naushad Muktar Ahmad, another individual affected by Dr. Mogera's alleged negligence, questioned the doctor's commitment to his duties and urged for action.

Dr. Neeraj addressed the public, confirming that complaints and CCTV footage related to Dr. Mogera's case would be forwarded to the state health department commissioner and the government health minister.

Dr. Mogera was subsequently granted 15 days of leave, during which further investigations would take place, he added.

The district health department also pledged to take appropriate action against the doctor in response to the public's concerns, he said.
