Bhatkal: The coastal districts of Uttara kannada, Dakshina Kannada and Udupi are bracing for severe rainfall as the red alert persists.

The IMD has warned of heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places in these districts.

The water levels in Dakshina Kannada rivers have not surpassed the danger levels, but residents living along the riverbanks remain on high alert.

One person has been injured in the rains and the estimated damage to houses in Udupi amounts to around Rs 15 lakh.

Traffic congestion has been a persistent issue in Mangaluru city and on NH due to the heavy downpour.

The IMD has advised fishermen not to venture into the sea until July 29.
