Yellow Alert Issued as Coastal Region Braces for 5 Days of Heavy Rainfall

Bhatkal: Authorities have issued a yellow alert for the coastal region in anticipation of heavy rainfall. The alert will be in effect from July 16 to 20 and will impact the districts of Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, and Uttara Kannada. Additionally, the districts of Chikkamagalur, Shivamogga, Hassan, and Kodagu will be on yellow alert on July 19 and 20, while Belagavi and Bidar will experience the alert on July 20.

Shirali recorded the highest precipitation with nine cm of rainfall. Kundapur received seven cm and several other locations, including Karwar,  Gokarna, Gerusoppa, Panambur, Kota, and Uppinangady, experienced four cm of rainfall. Additional areas such as Mangaluru, Ankola, Kumta and Udupi received three cm of rainfall.

Residents and authorities are urged to stay informed about weather updates and take necessary precautions to minimize any potential damages caused by heavy rains. The yellow alert serves as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of residents and  risks associated with heavy downpours.
