Udupi: Owners and drivers of construction material transport lorries initiated an indefinite protest starting on Wednesday, September 27. They are expressing their opposition to the policies of both the district administration and the government.

The protesters claim that construction material transporters are facing significant challenges due to various issues, such as legal actions being taken against them, ostensibly related to issues like the "one state, one GPS" and permit problems.

As a result of this strike, you can observe a line of lorries parked along both sides of the National Highway at Byndoor, Udyavar, Katapady, Brahmavar, and Sastan.

Raghavendra Shetty Katapady, the President of the Building Construction Materials Transporters Association, has stated that the protests will persist until all these issues are effectively addressed.

To draw attention to their concerns, the operators plan to organize a padayatra, marching from Balaipade to the district office in Manipal on September 29, with the aim of urging the Deputy Commissioner to resolve these pressing matters.
