Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner, Mullai Muhilan, urged prompt action in establishing a Cath lab for cardiac testing and treatment at Wenlock Hospital in Mangaluru.
Addressing the Arogya Raksha Samithi executive committee, the DC emphasized the necessity of the Cath lab for stent procedures due to the increasing number of patients with cardiac ailments.
District-in-Charge Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao expressed support for the initiative.
The DC directed Karnataka Medical Council (KMC) to assist Wenlock Hospital in setting up the Cath lab. Superintendent Dr. Jecintha noted the presence of super specialty doctors at the hospital. The DC allocated funds of Rs 6.97 crore from the Smart City Mission and Rs 2 crore from Arogya Raksha Samithi for equipment procurement. KMC pledged Rs five crore worth of medical equipment. The DC also addressed cleanliness and nursing staff concerns and instructed Smart City officials to explore alternative road options near Wenlock Hospital.
