Mangaluru: To raise awareness about the harmful consequences of drug use, Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner Mullai Muhilan directed the Special Officer of the Department of Collegiate Education on Thursday to create reels and short films involving interested college students. These short videos will highlight the adverse effects of drug usage.

This decision was announced during the district-level committee meeting of the Narco-Coordination Center, held at the Deputy Commissioner's office.

Devi Prasad, the Special Officer of the Department of Collegiate Education, will encourage students to develop compelling scripts on drug eradication in colleges and produce one-minute short videos themselves. The best reels and short films will be recognized and awarded on August 15.

Additionally, Mullai Muhilan instructed Dr. Kishore Kumar, the Welfare Officer of the Health and Family Welfare Department, to appoint counselors at the district level to provide guidance to drug addicts.

During the meeting, District Superintendent of Police Rishyant C.B urged the Forest Department Officials to investigate and report on the cultivation of Ganja near Belthangady. He also directed them to reward individuals who provide information about illegal Ganja cultivation.

DCP Anshu Kumar, Puttur DySP Dr. Gana P. Kumar and many other officials were present.
