Rainfall Threat: Red Alert Imposed on Three Coastal Districts in Karnataka

Bhatkal: Karnataka witnesses the anticipation as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) declares a red alert for the three coastal districts of Karnataka i.e Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, and Uttara Kannada for Wednesday.

Even on the preceding day, the coastal region experienced the enchantment of heavy rains, with nearly 30 locations immersed in the downpour. Among them, several places in Dakshina Kannada mesmerized the surroundings with the highest rainfall in the past 24 hours until 8:30 am on Tuesday.

Uttara Kannada indulged in a spell of heavy rainfall, ranging from 148mm to 128mm, while Udupi unveiled its allure with the highest rainfall at 120mm and the least at 102mm.

IMD casts its captivating predictions, heralding a delightful red alert for Udupi on Wednesday, followed by a charming yellow alert on Friday. Saturday promises an enticing orange alert, while the enchantment of yellow lingers for the next two days.

Udupi district delights in an average rainfall of 70mm, with Byndoor taluk captivating the highest at 92mm.

Thunderstorms dance with lightning, accompanied by gusty winds enchanting isolated places across all the districts of Coastal Karnataka, as indicated by the spellbinding warning issued by IMD till July 9.

In alignment with the captivating nature of the weather, Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services sounds a warning of rough seas, with waves reaching a height of 3.5 to 4.1 meters along the coastal stretch from Mangaluru to Karwar.

As a precautionary measure, the department entices fishermen to resist the allure of the sea during this enchanting period.
