Bhatkal: The taluka health officer, Dr. Savita Kamat, and her team took action against doctors who were allegedly providing allopathic medicines without the requisite medical qualifications on Wednesday. They seized allopathic medicines from various clinics after issuing warnings to the practitioners.

During a raid on Ganesh Clinic near the city's flower market, health officials observed that doctors were administering injections and pills without the necessary medical degrees. The officials also noted that used anti-disease tablets and glucose syringes were not being disposed of in accordance with medical regulations. As a result, the health officer warned that the clinic might face closure if corrective measures were not taken immediately.

Another raid was conducted at Suprada Clinic on Chitrapura Road in Shirali within the taluk. The health officials discovered that the doctor at this clinic held a medical degree in Ayurvedic medicine but was providing allopathic treatments. The doctor was cautioned to dispense only Ayurvedic medicine.

The health officer highlighted that several clinics in various parts of the taluk were operating without the necessary medical certificates, and they were found to be administering allopathic medicines to patients. The health department intends to systematically identify and address such cases to ensure compliance with medical regulations.
