Karwar: Police have been urged to collaborate with government departments in an effort to combat the issue of illegal sand mining in Uttara Kannada district, as emphasized by IGP (Western Range) Chandragupta.

During a press briefing in Karwar on Wednesday, Chandragupta highlighted the need for police personnel to work closely with relevant departments to tackle this pressing concern.

Following an inspection of the Rural Police Station in Karwar, Chandragupta engaged with the media and discussed his extensive visits to over 80 police stations in the Western Range. His interactions with the personnel centered on various challenges, including those concerning staff members. In an effort to implement constructive changes within the police stations, Chandragupta sought feedback to streamline operational effectiveness.

Addressing the issue of inadequate staff accommodation, Chandragupta emphasized the need for a comprehensive plan to be formulated based on the requirements voiced by the staff before any construction of new quarters. "I am personally engaging with the staff at every station to ensure their voices are heard," Chandragupta emphasized, with the presence of Superintendent of Police N Vishnuvardhana and other officials.
