Illegal possession of country-made guns: 4 held

Dandeli (DHNS): Dandeli rural station police, on Saturday, arrested four accused involved in the illegal manufacture of country-made guns.

The accused were identified as Ismail Kutta (31) of Vitnal village, Basavaraj Hesaranji (25), Suresh Chaudu Parade (33) of Goanthan and Ravidas Vasu Achari (39) of Joida.

A case has been registered against them under the Indian Arms Act and an investigation is being carried out.

A raid was carried out on the basis of a tip-off that the accused living in the forest areas within the limits of the rural station had been illegally manufacturing and keeping country-made guns for a few days.

Guns seized

One double-barrel country gun, five single-barrel country gun, an airgun part, steel rods, small iron pipes, old pieces of wood already used for making the guns, and other things were recovered from the accused.
