Bhatkal: The Mines and Geology Department raided an illegal flint quarry in Bengre panchayat of Bhatkal taluk on Wednesday and seized four engines used for stone quarry work. The engines have been handed over to the Murudeshwa police station.

The raid was led by a senior geologist from the department, Asha M.S., and was conducted in collaboration with revenue inspectors and village administrators. The quarry was operating without the necessary permissions.
