Karkala: In a recent crackdown, a team led by Inspector T D Nagaraj from the city police station raided a residence in Patla, Kasaba village, acting on reliable information regarding suspected involvement in prostitution.

The property, owned by Dania Pereira, was the focal point of the operation, resulting in the apprehension of five individuals, including one woman.

The intervention also led to the liberation of another woman. 

The detainees have been identified as Govardhana from Karkala, Upendra, also known as Avinash Naik, from Ennehold, Deepa from Udupi, Ashok from Karkala, and Kinnarakatte Praveen Poojary from Nakre in Kukkundoor village.

The woman who was rescued, allegedly coerced into engaging in illicit activities, is currently receiving care under the supervision of authorities.

The arrested suspects are scheduled to be presented in court by law enforcement.
