Mangalore: A pick-up vehicle got stuck in the middle of the submerged bridge in Kanthukodi, Kedil village, near Mangalore on Monday, as heavy rains continued to lash Dakshina Kannada.

According to sources, despite the rising water level on the bridge connecting Kanthukodi to Padil, the driver of the pickup truck attempted to cross it and got stuck in the process. Fortunately, locals were quick to respond and rescued the occupants of the vehicle. The bridge, situated on the Kanthukodi-Padil road, has been completely submerged due to the relentless downpour.

The pickup vehicle was heading from the Padil side towards Kedil when the incident happened. It is noteworthy that the bridge tends to sink during the rainy season.

The coastal region of Karnataka has been experiencing heavy rain since Saturday night, and the inclement weather is expected to persist throughout the day. The sky remains overcast, giving the appearance of evening even during noon hours.
